Our goal is to develop a dark-induced promoter, for use in the bioluminescent plant project at BioCurious. Arabidopsis gene AT4G02380 is the top gene returned by MotifCircadian at 12-16 hours (i.e., starting just after sunset) for several of the light-dark time series in the DIURNAL database (Mockler et al., 2007): COL_SD, LDHC, LER_SD, LIGHT5_znknOX, longday, and shortday. AT4G02380is overexpressed by more than ten-fold at night, ranging from an expression level around 1000 during the day, to over 11,000 at 20hr, in time series LDHC.
